Customs clearance for a truck in 2026: documents and timelines
photo · customs documents
Customs clearance is the stage first-time buyers fear the most. There's no need: when the documents are prepared in advance, clearance takes a day or two. Here is the up-to-date checklist for 2026.
Documents you can't do without
- An invoice or sales contract showing the actual price.
- The vehicle registration document from the country of origin (Fahrzeugbrief, kenteken, etc.).
- The EU export declaration (EX-1).
- A CMR or another transport document.
- A certificate of conformity or an emission-class assessment.
- The buyer's documents: for sole proprietors and companies — registration details; for individuals — passport and tax ID.
What the payment consists of
Import duty, excise (depends on engine displacement, age, and class), and 20% VAT. The broker calculates the exact amount by VIN before you even buy the unit — with us this calculation is part of handling the deal, so there are no "surprises at the border."
A rule that saves weeks: the document package is prepared in parallel with delivery, not after arrival at the terminal.
Buy with us and customs support is already underway — from the EX-1 all the way to the first registration at the Ministry of Internal Affairs service center.
