How we import a tractor unit from Europe: 9 steps from selection to keys

Importing equipment from Europe only looks complicated from the outside. In reality it's a well-rehearsed route we run every week: from the first photo at a yard in the Netherlands or Germany to the keys in the buyer's hands in Rivne. We break the whole process down step by step — no gloss and no fine print.
The nine steps of the deal
- Selection: we agree on the budget, the type of equipment and the spec, then offer you 3–5 real options.
- History check: service records, mileage, accident history — before any deposit is paid.
- On-site inspection: our partner in the EU inspects the frame, the drivetrain and the electronics, and shoots a detailed video.
- Contract and deposit: we lock in the price and the timeline in writing.
- Buyout from the seller and export paperwork.
- Delivery: under its own power or by car transporter, 5–10 days depending on the country.
- Customs clearance: the broker prepares the package in advance, so the unit doesn't sit at the terminal any longer than needed.
- Pre-sale preparation at our service station.
- Handover: documents, acceptance certificate, registration — and the unit is yours.
How long it takes and what you pay for
A typical deal takes three to four weeks from deposit to handover. You pay for the equipment itself, delivery, customs duties and our commission — each set out as a separate line in the contract, with no "extra costs that turn up later".
The buyer's most expensive mistake is cutting corners on the inspection before buyout. That's exactly why an on-site inspection isn't an option for us — it's a mandatory step.
