The new-generation MAN TGX: a review after 100,000 km

We have already sold dozens of the new MAN TGX (the generation from 2020 onward) — and we have feedback from owners with real mileage of over 100,000 kilometres. Here is what they praise about it, and what they complain about.

Fuel savings

The D26 engine, paired with the TipMatic gearbox and the EfficientCruise predictive cruise control, delivers a steady 24–26 litres per 100 km on the highway when fully loaded — best-in-class territory. Owners who switched from the old TGX report 2–3 litres less on the same routes.

The GX cab

A completely new cab with a flat floor, a wide bunk and a large digital cockpit. Drivers praise the visibility and the quiet, and quickly get used to the MAN SmartSelect control instead of a touchscreen. On the downside, the in-house multimedia system occasionally "thinks too long" — this is fixed with a software update.

What about reliability

  • Engine and transmission — no systemic issues up to 500,000 km of mileage.
  • The AdBlue sensor electronics are the most common reason for a service visit, just as with its competitors.
  • Servicing costs — on par with DAF, cheaper than Volvo and Scania.

Fresh TGX units appear at the yard regularly — follow the "News" section or set up a subscription in your personal account.
