Bringing to the auction or selling online: what's more profitable for a truck owner

TIRkomis offers two sales formats: bringing the vehicle to the commission marketplace in Rivne or online sales, when the vehicle remains with the owner. They differ in costs, inspection organization and the path to a deal.
The marketplace is more profitable when the vehicle is no longer operating and must be available for inspection without waiting. Online is more suitable if the vehicle remains in service or the cost of bringing it to Rivne is too high.
How the commission marketplace works
The owner delivers the vehicle to the TIRkomis marketplace in Rivne. The manager photographs the vehicle, creates and publishes the listing and launches advertising.
The owner receives:
- free parking until sale;
- free advertising on the website, in TIRkomis Telegram and social networks;
- showings to clients who come to the marketplace;
- the option to perform diagnostics on-site and, if both parties agree, complete the sale on the inspection day.
Until sale, the owner does not pay for parking or advertising. TIRkomis commission is $500 per sold unit and is paid only after a deal is concluded between seller and buyer. The legal framework for this format is defined by Chapter 69 of the Civil Code of Ukraine on the commission agreement.
Until sale, the owner incurs costs for fuel, driver wages or towing of non-working vehicles.
How online sales work through TIRkomis
The online format is suitable for vehicles that cannot be brought to the marketplace or are unprofitable to take out of service. The owner sends photos, videos, specifications, location and phone number, and TIRkomis launches the listings.
Placement costs 500 UAH, paid upfront, and the listing has no expiration date. In addition to the TIRkomis manager's number, the owner's number is also posted. The buyer can contact the seller directly, clarify the condition of the vehicle, and arrange an inspection and paperwork.
If the buyer contacts the owner directly, the seller conducts the transaction themselves. If the client is provided by a TIRkomis manager and the sale takes place, the owner pays a $500 commission after the transaction is completed. The detailed stages are explained in the material about selling commercial vehicles online.

How to calculate what is more beneficial for you
The choice of format depends on three factors: the cost of delivering the vehicle to Rivne, possible downtime, and the owner's willingness to independently organize inspections. For lot delivery, you need to calculate the full cost. On the other hand, at the commission lot, vehicles are constantly available to buyers. You can inspect them, compare them with other offers from the TIRkomis catalog, conduct diagnostics, and when both parties are ready, complete the transaction on the same day.
Lot delivery is beneficial if:
- the vehicle is already out of service;
- constant readiness for inspection is needed;
- the owner does not want to independently answer calls and organize viewings;
- several units of the fleet are being sold;
- delivery costs to Rivne are acceptable compared to the expected sale price.
Before delivery, you don't necessarily need to repair everything. It's worth fixing only the faults that interfere with inspection, diagnostics, or significantly undermine the buyer's confidence. A material about preparing commercial vehicles for sale will help you determine the appropriate scope of work.
For the online format, the initial cost is 500 UAH. The owner doesn't spend money on delivery, and the equipment can continue working. However, he must independently respond to direct inquiries from buyers, report the actual mileage and condition of the vehicle, and agree on a viewing location.
Online sale is advisable if:
- the equipment remains in operation or on routes;
- delivery to Rivne would cost disproportionately high;
- the vehicle is in another region;
- the owner is ready to communicate directly with buyers;
- there is no need to ensure daily access to the equipment.
Thus, online is cheaper to start, but requires more involvement from the owner. A commission site requires delivery costs, but simplifies inspections, diagnostics, and communication with buyers. However, neither format guarantees a specific time frame for sale: the speed of sale is influenced by price, technical condition, equipment, and demand for the model.
Regardless of the chosen method, before concluding the deal, you must verify the VIN, registration certificate, proof of ownership, and any encumbrances. An up-to-date list of documents is provided on the vehicle registration and re-registration page of the SES MIA.
If a natural person transfers a truck, bus, or trailer to a trading organization for commission sale, the SES MIA points to the need for a document on the assessment of the vehicle. Tax obligations remain with the owner regardless of who represents him during the transaction.
Buyers who lack their own budget should separately consider ways to finance commercial vehicles.
